Nadia Nakai- Money
Before discovery part 2
In my Early high school young years , if I can recall I
was 16years back then, there was a hip hop show (there still is)I liked watching called Shiz
Niz, one episode blew me away. You ever heard of “musical love at first sight”?
well yes it happened I met the gifted
and lyrical classy and consistent female rapper Nadia Nakai Kandava.
This is not a love story (not that I would mind if it
was) but this is a music journey that see Nadia on a formidable adventures with
dust of Kenyan soil,to Zimbabwean influence to being a South Africa’s rap
empress. Nadia Nakai before discovery article continues, 2years back I did a
blog article about miss Nakai, she was one of artist that I felt they were
going to be next movers and shakers along likes of Ab crazy
(Mpumalanga,SA),Angelina of Trackwriterz (Atlanta,GA,USA),Typhus
(Washington,USA,Jozi,SA) and more rappers the list is long.
Well now I am
looking back at Nadia Nakai’s position in the game, after she won Shiz Niz
mixtape 101. Ok years passed I moved to
varsity and bang I was still dancing to Nadia’s bangerz, She’s been working
hard in her craft doing it big for herself and stepping the game high for
other rappers and mostly for female rappers that will come after her era, no
this isn’t about gender but I can’t ignore the skill, rhyme scheme and lyrical
weight in her music so I see a need to phraise her role in the biz.
The Hip Hop in Jozi is getting highly competitive thanks
to hits like “The way”-DJ dimples,”Heaven”-Da L.e.s,”No sleep”-Reason, and I am
proud to mention that Nadia Nakai have to be one of the artist to put on a
beast mode with her recent record she did with Dj Capital and Cash time boy Kid
X “Money”. Nadia is with Sid records owned by one of SA”s future legends in
terms of producers Sipho Ngwenya aka Psyfo a guy that has handled big records
in SA music industry. In the record "Money" there is something unique about the touch of DJ Capital's introduction for the two rappers Nadia Nakai and Kid X, Nadia put some Caribbean, Jamaican -island sound with the dub music feel, I personally liked the killer flow "The chick they been crazy about". This SA rap empress is part of a industry where I feel SA hip hop is on the "golden era" journey of discovering our own style and individualism.
Nadia is been putting music out to people with songs like
“like me”, “calypso” and many more singles, now am dancing to “Money”, “The
revolution will not be televised” no it wont be written in the sky but realness
will remain, Nadia is here to stay.
